Saluti a Tutti DiLoreto, My father Rocco Nicolo was born in Filetto, Province
of Chieti in 1893. As most did then he went to Argentina for awhile; back to Italy
and then to the United States landing in Boston. World War 1 veteran, worked as
a mason(STONE). Married Pauline DeLucia whom he met in Boston; had 3 sons,Adio
now 83, Mario deceased and Gildo now 76. Brother Adio has four generations on
this earth, I have no children. We are both retired school teachers and I have
been a professional vocalist and musician for 60 years. Would like to hear from
you. I have been to Europe plus Italy many summers; still have first cousins in
Bari on my mother's side. Ciao

Enjoyed your website. I am a grandson of Alfedena-my grandparents are Donato
Sigismondo and Plautilla Melone- emi
grated in 1891 to Detroit (first to Albion
NY) occupation 'stone cutter' Interred at Holy Seplchure in Southfield. I was
born in Detroit 1942 -moved to Pennsylvania in late 40's. My grandparents first
lived on Livingston at Hastings (now I75 I think) later lived on Van Dyke at Canfield.
We have Sigismondo-Melone family history to 17th century--your family name appears
in our line an
d it is dominated by the Monacelli name o
n both the Sigismondo side
and Melone side.

Hi John, Thanks for leading me to your Di Loreto website. It is an outstanding
compilation of Alfedena information. I especially liked the homemade map of the
principal landmarks in the village including your family homesteads. My grandparents,
Carlo Di Valerio and Dorotea Spada lived on the Via di Casini in Alfedena before
emigrating to Erie, Pa. in 1906. Growing up in Erie in the 30's and 40's I remember
a Di L oreto family in the neighborhood, but as yet I can't place the location
of the Nick and M ary Di Loreto storefront. It looks like it may be on 18th St.
in the Italian district of Erie. I grew up on 18th and Walnut Streets there, just
a half block from the office of Dr. Quentin Orlando, who I see was a speaker at
your Di Loreto reunion in 1965. I visited Alfedena when I was in the Army in 1955
and stayed with two cousins of my grandmother, Leontina Spada and Rosina Turchi.
I have only been back once, about four yea rs ago with my wife, but we were only
able to spend a few hours there. Keep up the good work wi th your website and
I'll visit it often. Richard

Hi John; How surprised I was to see a photo with me in it on your web site.
Just found about it from the latest from Denise. I of course remember you and
the times in the old neighborhood and of course those wonderful years in the High
School Orchestra. I finally gave up the violin after about 15 years
in the Grosse Pointe Symphony. Anyone that remembers me and wants to write is welcome. Bruce

John: Saw the old school pictures. Thanks for the remembrance. I see you have
even less hair then I do, but what I have left is all gray. I have fond memories
of going to your house and listening to "the worlds greatest stero system"
and the loudest. I was especially interested in watching the picture window moving
in and out to the music. I've been living in Grand Rapids since 1975. My wife
Cosie and I have three grown sons and two grandsons. It looks like you have a
wonderful family. Best wishes.

Mr. DiLoreto, I really enjoyed the postcards of Alfedena. I was born there
in the early 50's. One of the postcards actually had the house that I lived in
until I was 13. I was also looking at the photos taken by soldier DiLoreto, the
ones on top of the people sitting on the terrace have a background that does not
belong to Alfedena. I see a dome and an open tower, no such landmark s in town.
My parents will be visiting in may and they might recognize people or things,
I'll keep in touch.....Marcello

I am totally impressed with your family's talents. My 16 year old, Maxine,
just completed Sweet Charity. My 11 year old son is currently working on Annie.
We are theatre geeks!!! Maxine is currently looking for colleges with good dramatic
arts programs. U of Mich is great, but a little harder to get into than when I
attended. I, on the other hand, do ALL the set work on most of the middle school
plays and some of the high schools'. Nice seeing another family as involved as
ours.
